Factsheet NQF Level 4
Introduction By The CEO Of The EAAB
The introduction of the National Qualifications Framework by the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB), and the subsequent publication of the Study Guide for the Professional Estate Agent: NQF Level 4, represent important milestones not only in the education and training but, also, the professionalisation, of all estate agents.
It had become increasingly apparent to estate agents and stakeholders alike that the previous educational dispensation for estate agents, which had clearly been instituted with the most laudable of intentions and had, initially, fulfilled a valuable role and function, had outlived its purpose. The problem with that dispensation was that it patently failed to equip estate agents with the necessary degree of knowledge
Work thereafter commenced on the production of suitable, standardised study material for the two estate agency qualifications. The “Study Guide for the Professional Estate Agent: NQF Level 4” is the culmination of one aspect of this endeavour. There can be no doubt that the Study Guide, while primarily aimed at non-principal estate agents seeking to attain the Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate, whether by way of study or through the undergoing of a Recognition of Prior Learning assessment, will be found to be of great value to all practicing estate agents. I believe that the publication of the Study Guide by the EAAB will contribute significantly to improving the status and standards of professionalism of estate agents. I am also confident that estate agents, once having been enthused by the empowerment of study and the acquisition of practically relevant knowledge, will be inspired to continue, incrementally to increase their real estate qualifications and so expand their chosen career path. I am certain that their studies towards the attainment of the new educational qualification will prove to be of great practical benefit to all professional estate agents and will ensure that they attain reputational and financial success in the dynamic and rapidly evolving estate agency environment.
I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the Estate Agency Affairs Board and especially, of the Education and Training Committee of the Board under the able leadership of Mrs Wendy Machanik, without whose continuing motivation, inputs, support and assistance, this work might not have been published. Recognition is, of course, also due to the many other stakeholders who assisted in the compilation of the Study Guide.
