Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessment Centres accredited by the Estate Agency Affairs Board

All Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) staff, estate agents and stakeholders and new applicants are hereby informed that, with effect from 1 December 2011, the EAAB will no longer be accepting any payments made by cheque.

As the Professional Designation Examination (PDE) is an open book examination, candidates are evaluated on their practical understanding of the study (and any other relevant) material rather than on mere recall and memorisation.

The new outcomes based educational framework for estate agents is contained in the Regulations Relating to the Standard of Training of Estate Agents which was published in the Government Gazette on 4 June 2008 and came into operation on 15 July 2008.

The principle of 'Recognition of Prior Learning' ("RPL"), or the process of identifying, assessing and recognising previous learning wherever acquired, and whether formal, informal or non-formal, will be implemented for currently registered estate agents as well as for new estate agents who choose to go through this route to certification.

An Equivalency (Exemptions) Matrix has been constructed by the EAAB as a living document, for the purposes of granting recognition to relevant qualifications previously obtained by candidates after a proper assessment process.
