To qualify as a Full Status Estate Agent, a person must have either:

- Have previously Passed an Estate Agency Affairs Board examination, 18 credits will go towards their NQF Level 4 Qualification;
- Served a 12 Months internship;
- Being exempted from the prescribed training.

The following documentations are required to be registered as a Full Status Estate Agent:

- A fully completed and signed application form

- Identity Document (ID) copy

- Letter of employment from the Agency confirming employment of the applicant signed by the Principal

- Payment of R529.80

 Newcomer Non-Principal Estate Agent:

All newcomers who want to register as non-principal estate agents must apply to the EAAB for registration as intern estate agents (in precisely the same way they would have done for registration as candidate estate agents under the old system) in the service of an estate agency undertaking.

In such case an ‘intern fidelity fund certificate’ will be issued by the EAAB.

Such persons are then required to complete the full internship year during which time it is preferable that they take all steps necessary for the attainment of the Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate whether by way of training received from an accredited education provider or through the undergoing of an RPL assessment with an accredited RPL centre or being granted an equivalency exemption by the RPL centre as a result of previous relevant qualifications.

There is an Equivalency Matrix for the NQF Level 4 qualification.  The Equivalency Matrix for the NQF Level 5 qualification is still being finalised.
